"Beginning of the end"

Planes: P-38L
Loadout: 2x1000lib, rockets, 100% fuel.
Takeoff base: A8
Designated targets: Jabo A1 + factory

Details:

All northern squadrons took off at the same time from A8. spectacular view of dozens of planes in formations.
We form quickly and head for target:

Clouds are about 3/8 over target, but we have no trouble spotting it. GA orders rolling in, and we go after him, line astern.

On first volly GA orders ack busting. We go over the field and make sure all acks are down.
Second volly, we go for the FH, but those were killed before we get to them, so we save the heavy ammo, and go for the smaller buildings. Just as I bust the barracks, GA spots hi cons.

As I pull from the dive, I see to the west a KI61 shooting GA down, which really pisses me off.
Quickly jettisoning everything, I get into a furball with 2 nikis. Thanks to the high speed from the rocket run, I'm able to pull-up into them and blast a niki as he flips over. A hit on the cockpit and on the tail (pieces break off) and he's gone - YEH!
This one's for you GA! :)

No time for partying, the other niki is on my tail and he brough a friend. Hard left break to shake him off (with flaps this bird turns very good!) and dive to disengage.

Meantime Duvel and MrSmiley are fighting 2 nikis and I think the KI61 that got GA is climbing above us all.
I see on text that Smiley was shot down and see Duvel being chased by a close N1K at his 6.
Quick 6 check - I'm gaining on the bandits behind, so i dive after Duvel to get his bandit into a sandwich. This is working and the NIK pulls away with me trying to put some lead into him.

What I didn't see, was another nik that came from my left and got right under me...

Never seeing the bastard at my belly, I pull after the first N1K, thinking Duvel is in the clear.
As I put guns on him I get a join request right in the middle of the screen, covering my gun sight....lol. I accept and while laughing I am suprised to still see a bandit after Duvel and completly miss another hi niki that dove on my 6...
I fire a few shots at the one in my sights and the one after me blows my wing away.
The third one gets Duvel shortly after. Sorry I failed to clear that one off of you bro!

All vikings down.

Conclusion:

1. There were too many planes jaboing A1 all at once. Once the heavy buildings were destroyed, being still loaded heavy, we should have disengaged and went for the other target. Instead of targeting soft buildings and finally being attacked by higher bandits.
2. Mission was real fun, flying in huge numbers, rolling in though the clauds and furballing.
3. Got my first TOD kill, and fended for my self, out numbered at the furball, quite nicly I think.
   Until some bad SA got me... :) I'm pleased though.
4. Did I mentioned it was fun? as always with you guys :)
