AAR TOD 1 - "London Calling" Frame 3

Plane:

P-51B

Mission:

Bar Patrol. (not like hanging around in bars on saturday night...)

Events:

first engamement:
I spot 2 dots at our 3 oclock low, just south of the coast.
we make a wide right turn after them and find 4 190 making an attack run on our factory. We can see the vikings swooping in a right turn, Duvel is just outside the pic, above and behind us.

taliho!

After a first idle swoop i see 2 190 head south, I go after them, GA and smiley go after the other couple (and get a quick kill). I get on one of the south 190's tail while Duvel complets 270 angle turn and sets a HO pass on my bogie - pretty good for me since the boogy can't break away and expose himself to Duvel, and he cant go for the HO couse i'll get him.
so he can only hit the deck and try to run. I slowly close in on him and he's starting a light turn to spoil my aim. I get some flashes on him but the 4 0.5 of the B are not enough and the chase continues:

pinging away

At that point I'm a bit worried about the other 190 infront and up. You can see in the next pic:

190 on the run

The 190 breaks hard right. I'm not tempted into turning with him, although the P-51B is a better turner (with 1 notch of flaps), since i fear the other 190 we passed (He turned into a ball of fire 2 sec later. not sure if just crashed or that Guinness/Duvel got him).
So, I play it safe and stick with the standard E technic:
wings level, nose below horison, full steam ahead for the extention.

got away

The 190 trys to reverse hard for the snapshot, but i'm too fast for him. This was a mistake on his part, since when reversing he blows all his E and turns 6 to 2 blood-thirsty vikings (GA and Smiley) .
I go vertical and turn the lift vector for the next merger point, but GA Smiley and Duvel get him before I get there <S>.

Second engagment:
We go on our patrol west and see multiple dots over A42. We are mistaken to think they are ours, till the dots on my 12 turn to be 2 ju88 and a 109... That is the moment the pic is taken:

poor SA

We got ourselves into deep poop, and smiley has gone already (watch his text on the pic, this would go into "famous last lines" pantheon).
I don't see the 109 sweeping in on the other guys but go fast after the ju88. Diving for speed I go under one and pull for the shot on the other from his 5 low. I put some lead into his right engine with no results.

swis cheese

I can't go in again since the escort is on my tail, so I dive and the 109 can't follow due to compression.
They all bug out south, and I cut the engine and glide for landing at 42 with E showing on my fuel gauge...
I save the last drops for taxiing to the refuel point and meet with Guinness.
We go up again, but Guin is discoed.

Landing alone at 42, sole viking survivor....

lonly viking

Conclusion:

So we were less successful than last time, but when not caught with our pants down, we gave those 190 a blood bath...

see ya next frame.
