Events:

Coming into the SEA we quickly find out that all 4 allied squadrons are planned to takeoff simultaniosly from the same carrier group. The squadrons were devided betwin the two carriers in the group, us and the 56th were assigned to the leading carrier. As expected, the deck was incredibly crouded and takeoff procedure was taking forever.

Crowding on the deck, and finally airborne, after Dass and Rompa.

Unfortunatly, after 10min. the CM's disabled flight. The result was, our last formation who was still on the deck, got only one shot at taking off. It came to about 2/3 of the vikings who made it up with their lazy F4U.

Blue flight forming up.

Only minutes after forming up and turning to climb inbound our target, we spot several hi dots dead ahead. A quick check with the 56th verified our suspicions that these were bandits. I try to lead my formation a little to the side of the bandits, but then even more show up on the other side. While considering turning back to defend the CV, GA orders to push forward to the target. I take my formation a full circle and we head after red formation, luckily avoiding the heavy opposition who turned to fight with the 56th over the target.

But a few bandits are still scouting ahead for us. Due to the circle we did before, my formation is now the last one ib the target. As we approach the coast, a single high N1K passes us over head, making a big turn and starts to follow. Since we were flying full throttle, the formation was streched and DM2 was lagging about d2.0 behind, attracting the N1K's attention. He tries to dive away, but a little too late and the N1K hits him. Dass puts his hawg's nose lower and sails forward for the strike, but the N1K is slowly closing in on Nilsen. I watch, worried about loosing another wingman, as he dives for speed and the N1K follows. Trying to slow horizontal speed but keeping the airspeed high, I make a big barrel-roll and let Nilsen plus the N1K pass under me, then ending the roll with a dive after the N1K.

Trying to clear Nilsen without loosing the load.

It works and the N1K see me diving in, level his wings in a shallow dive, and runs away. Now we are close to the target. I put the hawg in a shallow climb to trade the high speed into altitude. I loose sight of Nilsen on my lower right as I go into the strike, but on the film I saw him getting clobbered by the N1K and another high Ki.

Now I have a few seconds to survey the scene before diving in. Up high, the 56th are establishing superiority, keeping all the bandits low. Under me, an assortment of N1K and Ki61 are buzzing around furballing with the vikings and a few of the 56th.

Planning the dive and escape route.

Choosing the NE fighter-hangar that I saw being hit by Dassmort, I roll in. A high speed dive, release, gentle pull to the horizon and extending N over the ocean at 400mph. The FH is destroyed and I leave the bandits in my exhaust fumes.

Rolling in, bombs away, KABOOM!

Extending just out of bandits icon range, I call over the voice channel for any vikings still available to regroup with me over the ocean. From the radio chatter I gather all vikings are engaged, and I turn back to put my rockets into some good use. I choose one of the remainning hangars as a target, but on my way in, I spot 2 bandits closing fast on Swap. Quickly diverting course, I rush after them, but got there a split second too late. After hitting Swap both bandits break hard and I dont try to follow, not keen on loosing my high speed.

Sorry Swap. I wasn't quick enough.

I make a very slow, E saving reversal and come back with the rockets again. This time, it's Kronos of the 56th being chased by a N1K. Breaking the attack run, I dive after the N1K, spray a bit from d600 - no hits but enough to make him break away hard.

This time I got there on time.

Now finally I get to complete my rockets run and kill another FH. During this I hear on voice some good news, like GA blasting some bandits away, but also that we are loosing vikings fast. Now I'm light for A2A, but I find that all other vikings are down, the 56th are pulling out, and numerous more high dots from S indicate a good time for a strategic retreat.

Hitting another FH and landing for a re-arm.

Back on the carrier, allied make a count and find out that there are 5 of us left. We re-arm, refuel and head back to A7 to finish the job, led by Sancho of the 56th. Approacing A7, we spot a lot of high bandits heading out into the ocean. The 56th guys set out to see if these are bombers (gamble worked, these were escorted Ki67's) and I sneak alone to cause as much chaos at A7 as I can.

Some zekes just refueled and took off from A7, but didn't spot me coming in. I trash A7 while the landlord is away.

While nobody is here, I trash the base leaving obsene graphities on the walls.

When ammo is depleted I RTB. a FH, a BH and the dar ore the only things left on this field. While I refuel on the carrier, Lodder, the other surviving allied kill a zeke but looses his own F6F in the HO. Now I'm the only allied left...

Up again I set course to A7, but otw meet with the Ki67's and their escorts coming again at our fleet. Not much time till the end of the frame, I ditch the bombs, and dive in on the bombers, going fast through their escorts. I still had my rockets on and got some silly idea that I can hit a bomber with them...

Going 500mph now, wind is whistling wildly over the airframe, bomber dots are growing at an insane rate in my gunsite, change secondary weapon to rockets, set salvo 1... here they come, perfect HO, I'll fill their faces with rockets...wait! this is not a HO, I'm at their 9 oc... pull! fire! pull! fire!... compressing, can't pull... SPLASH!

I can make it! I can make it!... no I can't...

Last viking, last allied killed. And those Ki67's got one of our carriers. (hope it wasn't our carrier 'cos I letf my luggage there).

Conclusions:
